Summer Camp 2016

The sun was out and the temperature blazing in December 2016, as campers and leaders descended upon Em’seni, filled with happy expectations for the camp ahead!
The camp was organised by Greg Wynn and facilitated by enthusiastic and able leaders. The camp theme was “In” and allowed campers to uncover what it means to be ‘In Christ’, ‘In love’, ‘In service’, ‘In freedom’ and ‘In communion’. Much of the camp was spent outdoors and included a great day of rafting down the Tugela River with Itchy Feet SA Adventures. There was also a fun (and hot!) day of outreach in Khetani township, serving our lovely former colleague, Bongiwe Vilakazi as she serves those in the community around her. The campers and leaders planted a veggie patch and some lovely garden plants and trees as well as erecting a Jo-Jo tank to collect and store water for Bongi and her neighbours.
The camp was small in numbers and as we move forward into welcoming a greater number of campers to Em’seni, we hope to create the same level of intimacy and community as was evident on this camp.
So in a nutshell: much fun was had, many friends were made and God’s loving hand was seen moving powerfully among us all!
